More than a digital brochure, having a website is a must for most businesses. Minimally, it makes it easy for your existing clients to refer you. With good SEO*, it helps people discover you. Ultimately, it can make you money while you sleep.

Using Squarespace, I can create a very custom site for your business, product, or event and you will be able to easily update it yourself. That’s a promise. Each site I build uses responsive technology so your site will work and look good across all devices—and since 60% of people are viewing your site from their phone, it better be readable without needing to pinch-zoom!

You see, websites are like gardens. They constantly need to be weeded, watered, amended, and replanted. But they won’t grow until they are planted, so let me prepare the bed for your perfect garden and watch your business grow. You can either tend to that garden yourself, or call on me for maintenance. I don’t charge monthly maintenance contracts and I transfer ownership to you as soon as the site launches.

“Barbara has been the creative force behind my website for years, changing, updating or fully redesigning it every time I launch a new book. She is an absolute joy to work with—professional, creative, fun. She listens to my needs then every time comes up with something that’s even better than I’d imagined. I have recommended her numerous times to other authors and would enthusiastically recommend her to anyone looking to engage an audience with clarity and style!”

  • New York Times best-selling author, Peggy Orenstein came to me in a panic. Her new book, Girls and Sex, was about to be released, and her web guy was MIA. I had to build a site for all of her books, radio, tv, and print media in a week. Now, with each new book she releases, I update the color scheme of the site to match the latest and greatest, moving other books to the book page, and getting ready for a flurry of media to house on the page. Peggy does a great job updating her own media, and once every couple of years, I do a general clean up to keep everything looking tight.

  • Jennifer Basurto wanted to start a private therapy practice during the pandemic lockdown. After working for years in hospital-based clinical settings, the timing was right. I created several mood boards to capture the right tone for her site, and adjusted colors from her professional headshot so the site felt very harmonized and calming, but with a strong sense of hope. And hope is what she delivers to her clients.

  • I met Sacha when I designed a logo and website for her and a colleague and their joint effort Anthemion Appraisals. She decided to rebrand her solo business, Bellwether Advisory & Appraisals, and utilize the format from the Anthemion site for hers, with clusters of photos scattered around text. You can check out anthemionappraisals.com as well.

  • Rachel is a force in the Bay Area Community. She is an organizer, a visionary, and a general badass in the food justice movement. I love the deep colors of the site and the energy. I felt a real synergy of passion working with her.

  • Long business names can be tricky, but when you are working with a mystical magical healer like Cara, anything is possible. She was going to build the site herself, and just needed a little something here and there, but it became apparent that I would save her hours of time and frustration by just making it happen. I love the soft colors of the site. They are truly as gentle as her treatment, even for a needle-phobe like me.

  • I always told Liz she should open her own flower shop, since she already ran the shop next to Yasai Market on College Avenue. Well, the opportunity presented itself, and I got to design a logo, storefront signage, and a website. I have a demanding aesthetic and gently encouraged my boyfriend to only buy me flowers from her. Trust me. They're special.
